AIMS/OBJECTIVES: the aim of this programme is to support school leaders in establishing learning for leadership dynamics oriented to student achievement and engagement to transform school culture
CONTENT: Leadership for Learning in theory and practice as it is related to student achievement and engagement
STRUCTURE: 8 modules of 20 units (of 45 minutes) over two years Leadership for learning (L4L) is a dynamic that fosters positive learning stances of leaders and professionals as well as students throughout the school, with the non-negotiable goal of ensuring high student achievement and engagement. School leaders are called upon to create conditions for equity and excellence by engaging all actors in leadership, identifying and leveraging expertise, fostering professional learning for equity and excellence, aligning activities to a clear vision of the future and creating a social architecture and communication channels to foster school-specific goals. This programme comprises a series of 8 3-day modules over two years on aspects of L4L to support leaders' learning as they develop and implement their strategies for transforming school culture and building capacity. Participants conduct practice-based development projects during the course and reflect on their experiences by learning from the emerging future and moving from best practice to next practice. In the first year, leaders are introduced Leadership for Learning in theory and practice and tools and methods for creating a professional learning culture of mutual empowerment. Professional learning communities are formed as creative spaces for collaborative reflection on individual and school-specific development processes with a view to foster innovation and change patterns of thinking and doing. In the second year, school principals attend with 2-3 teacher leaders to drive school change through shared leadership for learning. Together they identify and develop tools, routines and structures that will support their school's transformation toward equity and excellence.
The courses will be presented in English; participants should have an adequate level of English in order to fully benefit from the course.
The course is intended for headmasters of the autonomous Province of Trento.
